A 17th century English Drinking Song written by Thomas Ravencroft in 1611. An “alehouse” or “public house,” now referred to as a “pub” for short was the source of drink prior to bottling techniques. Not only did many of these pubs provide liquor, but they had sleeping accommodations and women as well. A common theme for many older drinking songs such as this one.
